Peanuts and CrackerJacks

The Carter Clan went "out to the ballgame" back on April 25th vs. Wichita State. Great rivalry game. Got to see our friends Sam and Sue, whom we have sat next to the last few years. The girls love their company... not to mention their TrailMix!

Sam and I were discussing the game of baseball, and its intricacies..... we believe it is the only sport where:

1) The coaches actually wear a uniform
2) Players can be tended to (if injured), yet be able to stay in the game without sitting out a play
3) There is no clock, or time limit (except for certain curfew issues in college baseball)
4) If a player comes out of the game, he cannot return
5) If you can be successful 30% of the time (at the plate), you can be a millionaire

Anything else we missed??

It is the only sport where fans can score the game and do their own situation determination.

Good one. I commonly refer to my friends who bring scorecards as "sport geeks".... but I understand that it makes the game go by faster. And, I find myself asking them questions about the game that they can go back and find.

Here's another one:

Is there any other "team" sport where an individual can be awarded with a win, loss or save (pitcher)?

Get this: Arkansas had a pitcher this weekend go 9 full innings, giving up 1 run on 4 hits with 12 strikeouts. The game went to 10 innings... Because of the situation, another pitcher came in, retired ONE batter and was awarded the win.

It is the only sport where the head coach can come out and all out dress the umpire down and the crowd goes wild and the team can rally off of the emotion.
