Emory is 5!

Emory had her 5th Birthday on the 1st of December and her party was Saturday the 6th. She had a Heroes of the Bible party. All her friends dressed up like a hero in the Bible and then explained the story of that hero. Emory chose to be Queen Esther but did not do such a great job explaining what Esther did that was so great. All the other girls did a great job and we had a nice time.
As tradition goes in the Carter house, we always go pick out our tree after Emory's Bday party. So, we headed to the tree farm and bought a very fragrant Balsam Fir tree.
It is funny because every time we got get our tree it seems we have a new baby with us. And, in true fashion we have another on the way! This time next year we will have a baby rolling around for Cfristmas! Crazy.
Anyway, we are now preparing for the 2008 Christmas Season. We just pray that we will stay focused on Jesus in this materialistic world!

2008 School Year

Emory started her last year of Preschool on Tuesday the 2nd and Avery started Mothers Day Out on Thursday. Emory's teacher is Mrs. Wardle and Avery has Mrs. Heather. Emory had Mrs Heather 2 years ago so we are excited to have her again. Now, we will have to see if Mrs. Heather is glad to have another Carter in her class! The kids are doing great. Colby is about to turn one and is cruising along the furniture and with walking toys. While the girls were at school, Colby and I went to the grocery store together. He finally realized that he could ham it up and get all kinds of attention from the ladies.... the little old ladies! None the less he has found a new interest in others and getting their smiles in return. Emory is about to turn 5! Wow how time flies. We are blessed in so many ways. But our babies bless us the most.

Weekend Fun

We had a good weekend with the family. Not too much. We have all been a little under the weather with snotty noses and coughs, but all in all not too bad. So, the pics are really quite great. The first one is of poor Colby... his daddy forgot to get him from "playing" in his room to putting him in bed to take a nap. Dad fell asleep - well, and so did Colby. I found Colby napping on his floor. I gave Jim a real hard time about it and then the next day - yep, I did the same thing. Colby took another nap on the floor. Poor kid. He gets no attention around here.
The next few pics are from our version of church at home. Since several of us were hacking, Avery was fighting me every step of the way to getting dressed for church, we decided to have church at home. Of course, Emory kept us in line and told us how to do it all. We were cracking up. So, we sang praise and then studied the story of Zaccheus in the tree wanting to see Jesus. Next, according to Emory, was snack time:
"Now, it is snack time! Let's have a cookie!" and then craft time. All of a sudden mom had to become the snack coordinator and art director and dad of course was the great lead teacher who was willing to sing a silly kid song with his family for teaching purposes. Go Dad!
Well, enjoy our chronicled weekend.

The last few months

A slide show of the last several months - this was the best way for me to get it all out there for those who actually look at the blog!

For Shame!

We have not blogged in forever... I guess with three kids you kind of get busy. So, since Easter we have not been up to too terribly much. Everybody is getting bigger and more and more fun. Becky did take the kids to Baton Rouge. They all went with Lynette and her two kids. So, two moms and 5 kids 5 and under. Whew - 24 hours in the car and we were still smiling when we made it home. Colby is about to turn 1 and he is puling up on everything. We have tried to make it to the pool as much as possible and today we went to the JumpZone. Lots of huge inflatables that are for jumping and sliding. Truth be told, I think I had as much fun as they did. Then, Gina took us to McD's for some lunch and of course ice cream.

Food Firsts

So, it was Colby's turn to experience some new foods. First, we were in Baton Rouge and had some boiled crawfish. He did not eat it (you can see him sitting on the ground), but he sat back and watched everyone else enjoy the great southern Louisiana tradition.
Then, the not so much fun first baby food - carrots! As you can tell by his face, it was not love at first bite.

Take Me out to the Ball Game!

Colby got to experience his first razorback baseball game. It was a beautiful day and the kids had a great time. They also got to see Ribby the Razorback. We are so fortunate to get to hang out as a family and enjoy some great baseball atmosphere.

Tomato Drill

So, we were sitting at dinner last night and Emory is telling us about what to do in a fire drill. She says you have to sit "applesauce" (that is indian style for us old timers) at the fire drill. Jim looks at her puzzled and thinks "Oh, you mean for a tornado drill?" Emory: "No, not the tomato drill, silly, the fire drill!"
Apparently when you get outside after the fire drill you are supposed to sit down with your legs crossed.
Goodness, Dad... your are so silly!

Mom... Can you help me please?

Emory loves to play dress up. Her and Colby have quite the special relationship - but I think she has gone a little too far. I can just hear him now: "Mom, I love Emory, but can you tell her I am a boy and do not wear bows!"

Bubbles Bubbles Everywhere!

I think Avery LOVES it when big sis is at school, baby brother is napping (well he was supposed to be) and she gets mommy all to herself! She had quite the time with our bubble bath.

Thanks to our friend Reid Blackman... Avery was singing Jingle Bells this morning
.

Our Snow Day

Tuesday we got a little snow. The meteorologists were calling for 4-7 inches of snow. Well, look at the pics and you will know how far off base they were... We had a good time though. Of course Wednesday it was beautiful and close to 60 degrees and then by last night it was cold again. Oh, and we are supposed to get snow again tonight. Well, Emory called it! She probably knows just as well as the weather people.

Snow "Angels"

Am I supposed to be liking this??

Ahhhh, a nice warm bath and we are ready for hot coco!

Is it too early or too late??

Ok, so it is 1:37am Monday morning and I am still up. Just ask Jim - that NEVER happens. But, I have had so much fun getting caught up with some friends from Texas that we have not seen in 5 years. I love the internet - this blogging stuff really is great. So, it is great to stay in touch with all of our friends and have our friends get to keep up with the Carter Clan. Now that I have our friends' blogs on my fav list, I might actually be good at checking out your blogs on a more regular basis. And, update ours more regularly.
Heres to 75 degree weather yesterday and several inches of snow today!

Happy New Year!

Wait... you mean it's already mid-February?? That makes sense.
